More fake Hitlers, this time two drawings offered by Rhyton Gallery in New York City on November 29, 2020. As with almost all alleged Hitler artworks recently offered in the US, no information at all about the provenance is given.

Dog drawing
Soldier drawing

Lot 0708: "Adolf Hitler". Start price $250; estimated at $1.oo - $10,000.

Comparison with authentic Hitler signatures (on the right, source Maser, 1971, page 484), shows that the signature on lot 0708 is a clear forgery.

Description by auctioneer: "Drawing on paper 10 1/2 x 8 in. Attributed to Adolf Hitler (20 April 1889 – 30 April 1945) was a German politician and leader of the Nazi Party (officially the National Socialist German Workers Party or NSDAP). He rose to power as the chancellor of Germany in 1933 and then as Führer in 1934.[a] During his dictatorship from 1933 to 1945, he initiated World War II in Europe by invading Poland on 1 September 1939."

Comment by Droog Magazine:  This is a forgery of a fake. The original is a fake Hitler drawing, made in or before 1982, and depicted in Price, #581.

Original fake, from Price, 1982 or before. Forgery of a fake, 2020.

For those who can't spot the differences: see the signatures, right bottom.

The stamp print

The in relief stamp print has been seen before on other fake Hitlers. The in relief stamp used for it is probably a crude post 1945 fantasy product. Notice the absence of words in it - quite unusual in Nazi stamp prints.

Not surprisingly, this lot remained unsold.
