auction policies | past "Hitler" auctions by AA

On July 15, 2020 Affiliated Auctions (AA) in Tallahassee (Florida, USA) auctioned another two fake Hitler "artworks".

In the past two years the auctioneer never replied to our critical questions or paid any attention to our warnings that certain items were fakes. It's obvious he is more than aware that the alleged Hitler works he sells as “authentic” are as authentic as the relics of the toe nails of sweet Jesus. In our opinion he's therefore a plain fraudster.

The fake Hitlers

Lot 4002: “Adolf Hitler original drawing 1908 with CoA.” Sold for $4,200.

Lot 4002. Click on image to enlarge.

Description by auctioneer: "Terry Patton, UACC registered dealer #RD028, Certificate of Authenticity reads: Original Adolf Hitler pencil drawing of church in Leonding, Austria. This same drawing is pictured on page 105 of Billy Price's book on Hitler art. Measures 8x9 inches inches approx. and comes with expertise by Dr. Heinrich Fuchs dated June 1978. This lot has a reserve."

Comment by Droog Magazine: This work is apparently a Konrad Kujau fake. The two accompanying Certificates of Authenticity are as fraudulent as the work it self. Mr. Terry Patton seems to be a new player in the Hitler forgery industry; Dr. Heinrich Fuchs from Vienna is an old and probably deceased swindler, who issued an unknown number of CoAs to clearly forged Hitlers in the 1970s.

Price #52. Click on image to enlarge.

It appears that this work is depicted in Price, as #52 - in good company of the hundreds of other fake Hitlers depicted in that book.

Lot 4010: "Original Adolf Hitler 1910 watercolor painting CoA.” Sold for $3,700.

Description by auctioneer: "
Terry Patton, UACC registered dealer #RD028, Certificate of Authenticity reads: Original watercolor by Adolf Hitler measuring 8x5 inches. Signed and dated 1910. Comes with expertise by Dr. Heinrich Fuchs dated in June 1978. Reverse is also noted and signed by Hitler. This lot has a reserve.”

Comment by Droog Magazine: Hitler made no landscapes. Another obvious fake, resembles in nothing the believed to be authentic Hitler artworks. It might be the same work depicted in Price as #126:

Auction policies

Affiliated Auctions: “Descriptions are not intended to be definitive and should be thought of as opinions on the genuineness, authorship, attribution, provenance, period, culture, source, origin, or condition of the property. No statement made in item leads, descriptions, estimate or during the sale should be considered an assumption of liability or warranty. Lots of items that we deem to be questionable in nature will be described as “unauthenticated”. Usage of this term does not imply anything other than our opinion. Artworks described as a work by a specific artist fall into our highest tier of authenticity, however, no qualified statement about the authorship is strictly implied. Artworks described as “attributed to...” are most likely, in our opinion, a work by the artist but there is less certainty expressed than in the terminology described above. (…) The term signed by and/or dated by the artist is believed to have been inscribed by the artist's hand. The term bears signature implies that the signature may have been added by someone other than the artist. (...) Autographs and autographed items are believed to be authentic unless otherwise stated.”
